“mallcore” is a derogatory term used to describe various nu-metal, alt-rock, punk, and other bands, especially ones whose merch and/or music can be found at Hot Topic. I first heard the term used to describe Aiden, and I found it so hilarious that I and my friends appropriated it. Anyone who wears something we’ve seen in Hot Topic is “mallcore,” and of course the above criteria applies as well. Of course, I happen to like Hot Topic, and I like many of the bands that can be found there, so therefore being “mallcore” (or to give it a hip, cool, edgy spelling–because if anything, we are hip, edgy, and cool–”mallXcore”) must as a result be a good thing.

Bottom line: Someone used it to insult a band I like, I LOLed, then decided it was so funny I had to take it home and keep it.
